A toner yield estimator for your specific office volume
Enter your monthly print volume, typical page coverage, and the toner cartridge yield rating. The calculator estimates how many cartridges per year you will go through and the annual toner cost.
Toner yield estimator
Why coverage matters so much
Manufacturer yield ratings assume 5% page coverage — the ISO standard test pattern. Real office documents typically run higher: 8-10% for text with light formatting, 12-15% for graphics-heavy documents, 18-25% for photo-heavy content. Your effective yield is roughly the rated yield divided by your coverage ratio over 5%. The calculator applies this adjustment automatically.
What the calculator does not capture
Drum unit, transfer belt, fuser, and maintenance kit costs sit outside toner spending. For full consumables budgeting, add these from the device's expected service intervals. The toner cost from this calculator is one component of total operating cost rather than the complete picture.
Using the result for procurement
Compare your estimated annual toner spending against the toner-inclusive portion of MPS proposals. If MPS pricing covers toner at less than your standalone toner estimate, MPS produces real savings on consumables alone — before counting service contract value. If MPS pricing exceeds your standalone toner cost, the difference should be justified by service and operational benefit rather than toner economics.
